2. The Ministry of
Home Affairs (MHA) on 25 July, appointed senior IPS officer Hargobinder Singh
Dhaliwal as the new Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
3. Union Minister of
Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the country’s 500th
community radio station, Apna Radio 90.0 FM, at the Indian Institute of Mass
Communication (IIMC) in Aizawl, Mizoram.
4. PM Modi will chair
the 9th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan
Cultural Centre, New Delhi. The theme of this year's meeting is "Viksit
Bharat@2047," with a central focus on making India a developed nation.
5. In the Lok Sabha
yesterday, the government said that there is no proposal under consideration at
present to make provision for paid menstrual leave mandatory at all workplaces.
Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi stated this in a written
reply.
6. On July 25, 2024,
Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, launched the
Vriksharopan Abhiyan 2024 at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in Dhanbad. This
initiative, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”
campaign, was simultaneously conducted across 300 locations in 47 districts
within 11 coal/lignite-bearing states.

8. PM Modi carried
out the first blast at the Shinkun La Tunnel Project in Ladakh virtually. The
Shinkun La Tunnel Project consists of a 4.1 km long Twin-Tube tunnel which will
be constructed at an altitude of around 15,800 feet on the Nimu - Padum -
Darcha Road to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh.
9. India now has
547,283 towns that are Open Defecation Free Plus (ODF Plus). This was announced
by the Jal Shakti Ministry. This project shows that the government is serious
about making sanitation and waste management better.
10. Shalini Rajneesh
will be the new Chief Secretary of Karnataka. Law and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister HK Patil said.
11. The National
Testing Agency (NTA) yesterday released the revised final scorecard for the
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET-UG. Candidates who appeared for the
exams can check their results and scorecards on the official websites
exams.nta.ac.in and neet.ntaonline.in
12. Veteran Marathi
Writer Father Francis D’Britto. who
translated the Bible into Marathi, passed away on 25 July 2024, after prolonged
illness. He was 81.

1. BJP MPs from
Karnataka protested in the Parliament complex and demanded the resignation of
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged Mysuru Urban Development
Authority (MUDA) alleged scam.
2. The Supreme Court
on Friday extended its July 22 interim order staying the directives issued by
the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya
Pradesh, asking eateries along the Kanwar Yatra routes to display the names of
their owners, staff and other details.
3. The Agra Rail
Division has suspended the crew of the Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express for
violating a speed restriction of 20 kmph in Mathura section and putting the
passengers' lives at risk.

1.Mankind Pharma
Acquires Bharat Serums and Vaccines For Rs 13,600 Crore
Mankind Pharma has entered into a definitive agreement to
acquire a 100 per cent stake in Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) from Advent
International. It is one of the world’s largest and most experienced private
equity investors, for an enterprise value of Rs 13,630 crore, subject to
closing related adjustments.
2. AU Small Finance
Bank’s board has approved a proposal to transition from a Small Finance Bank
(SFB) to a universal bank.

1.The Bollywood fraternity is mourning the loss of Menka Irani, the mother of renowned choreographer-director Farah Khan and filmmaker Sajid Khan. She passed away recently. She was 79.

1. PM Modi paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War
on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas in Drass.
2. Agniveervayu women
from the Indian Air Force (IAF) came together yesterday to form the first-ever
All-Woman Drill Team at India Gate in New Delhi, marking the Silver Jubilee of
Kargil Diwas. The IAF paid a musical tribute through its Military Band's
patriotic songs to all the soldiers and martyrs of the Kargil War and
recognized their ultimate sacrifices for the country.
3. The Indian Army
has sent a group to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to take part in the multinational military
drill KHAAN QUEST 2024, which will run from July 27th to August 9th, 2024.
4. PM Modi criticized
the oppoisition for speading misinformation regarding Agnipath Scheme and said it is one of the crucial reform and will
increase the strength of the country. The Prime Minister pointed out that those
misleading the youth of the nation today had no regard for the armed forces in
the past.

government has decided to provide 10 percent reservations in the police and all

1. Former Indonesia
Vice President Hamzah Haz, (2001 to
2004), has died. He was aged 84.
2. The Israeli
Knesset has approved a bill to designate the United Nations Relief and Works
Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) as a terrorist organization. This move
proposes severing relations with the agency, which Israel accuses of
collaborating with Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza.
3. UN Human Rights Chief
Volker Türk on Thursday called on the Bangladesh Government urgently to
disclose full details about last week’s crackdown on protests amid growing
accounts of horrific violence and to ensure all law enforcement operations
abide by international human rights norms and standards.
4. The Presidential
Elections in Sri Lanka will be held on 21st of September. Issuing a Gazette
notification, the Election Commission also invited nominations for the polls
which will be accepted on 15th of August.
