FACTS ABOUT BHARAT 

  • National Disaster Management Authority, (NDMA) is an apex Body of Govt of India, with a mandate to lay down policies & Guidelines for disaster management like Earthquakes, cyclones, Avalanche, COVID etc. NDMA exercise of powers under Section 6 (2) (i) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Decisions on quarantine, lockdown etc will taken by NDMA.

  • National Executive Committee (NEC) assist and is responsible for the preparation of the National Disaster Management Plan for the whole country. Decisions on restrictions will be taken by NEC under Home ministry.

  Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA) - The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA Bill) was first introduced in 2016 in Lok Sabha by amending the Citizenship Act of 1955. This bill was referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee, whose report was later submitted on January 7, 2019. The Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed on January 8, 2019, by the Lok Sabha which lapsed with the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha. Uniform Civil Code (UCC)

  Uniform Civil Code (UCC): A Uniform Civil Code refers to a single law for the entire country, applicable to all religious communities in their personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption etc. It is intended to replace the system of fragmented personal laws, which currently govern interpersonal relationships and related matters within different religious communities. Constitution of India on UCC: Article 44  of the Constitution lays down that the State shall endeavor to secure a Uniform Civil Code for the citizens throughout the territory of India. Article 44 is one of the Directive Principles mentioned in Part-IV of the Constitution. These, as defined in  Article 37 , are not justiciable (not enforceable by any court) but the principles laid down therein are fundamental in governance.
